Is it OK to wear a Hematite bracelet near computer equiment?

I really would like to replace my old hematite bracelet which broke a couple months ago. However, I recently discovered that hematite has magnetic properties, which I am concerned may be destructive around any electronic or computer equipment. I would really like to replace my bracelet for its metaphysical qualities but fear that its physical qualities may corrupt my computer. Should I wear this bracelet if I spend much of my time near computer equipment, especially computer storage such as flash (RAM) memory?

I have wore a hematite necklace around a computer and flat panel screen for years. I dont' notice anything. IF you have a CRT monitor, that woul be a different story, as they are harmful by themselves.

How would I know if my Hematite bracelet is real Hematite?

If it is not plastic or any other cheap replacement, it could be made out of Hematine (fake hematite) or it could be real. You can streak the mineral on the back of a porcelain tile or porcelain plate. Hematite will streak red (if it is the fake stuff, it will streak gray).

You can also test it with a magnet. Hematite is not attracted to a magnet and the Hematine sort of fake is attracted.

Is hematite bracelet waterproof?

I'm thinking of purchasing a bracelet made of hematite (no real clue what that is of course) and was wondering if anything would happen to the bracelet if i went swimming in the sea, which i do quite often. I ask because a friend of mine had a bracelet (don't know what it was made of) and the salt water changed its color...:s

Take it off... Hematite is an Iron oxide mineral (Fe2O3). It's actually relatively soft and fairly easy to damage so it would probably be best to be very careful with it. As far as swimming in the sea goes, hematite apparently doesn't respond well to salt water so I wouldn't recommend exposing it to seawater for long periods of time.

I found this on a Jewlery site, it's for "healing" crystals but it will be the same case for jewelry I would imagine:

Crystals that are porous, crystals that contain metal or crystals that have a water content should not be soaked in salt water. Why can't diabetics wear hematite?

My Mom has these cool hematite bracelets she's getting rid of. I really like them but they are made from magnetic hematite and I have heard that diabetics shouldn't wear it, or at the least consult a doctor before wearing it. Why is that? I have good sugars and don't have any circulation problems. So would I be able to wear them?

I don't know where you heard that from, but it sounds like nonsense. A diabetic friend of mine has been wearing a hematite necklace for 6 or 7 years now - a type 1 diabetic. - and has never had any sort of reaction from it. Both doctors and nurses at our local hospital have commented on how nice it looks.

Still, when it comes to medicine - you can't be too careful - check with your doctor...

I think the best thing is to write them and explain everything - just be honest and ask them if it's okay to pay the money by money order or through the bank or something . They might actually accept.
