Any one get a hallmark card from Helzberg Diamonds for a free pair of pearl earrings?

I got a personalized Hallmark card in the mail today from Helzberg Diamonds with a picture of a dog name Beth and enclosed was a coupon for free 10kt gold post fresh water pearl earrings. I'm wondering how this place got my address and if it perhaps is a gimmick. Any one have any ideas?

Most retailers do, but I looked through the Helzberg website and there's no mention of it. Most jewelers will discount some items to bring in traffic, but usually it's not the precious stones. You said "sparkly," so just a word of caution that most places won't drop diamond prices more than 5%. So, if you know the regular price of the one you're thinking of buying, make sure to check the prices elsewhere (if it's a diamond, use a diamond search engine like http://www.diamondpriceguru.com/ or Pricescope--each of them checks prices on inventory at 10 or so retailers). If Helzberg has the best price--or if an extra 5% would make it the best price--try them on Friday. And if they're not the best price, at least you'll know before you buy, rather than afterwards.

I have a sapphire and diamond ring from Helzberg. I also purchased some sapphire earrings for my sister there. Their quality is good and their prices are reasonable. And they have good sales. I recommend them. I've always had a good experience there.
As with any place that you shop for jewelry, if you get a pushy or inexperienced sales associate, ask for someone else or come back another time.
