How many carats of emeralds would the average Spanish treasure galleon be carrying?

Potentially 100,000's of carats of emeralds were carried in the holds of Spanish Treasure galleons. Raw, uncut emeralds from the New World were exported to Europe and to India via the galleons. Many famous Indian Emeralds are actually Columbian in origin...

What is the difference between Colombian Emeralds and normal emeralds?

I can't seem to find any helpful information on the subject. Is there a visible difference? A difference in quality? Colombian emeralds are more expensive and prestigious, but why is that?

Columbian emeralds are greener in color and have a more desirable color. Brazilian ones are bluer therefore are less expensive. African emeralds are different, too, but the Columbian are generally better in color.

Caution...there are many synthetics out there. Also, when I studied at the GIA, I had to appraise an emerald that turned out to have an emerald top cemented to a green garnet bottom.

Diamonds are easy to identify. Either it is or it's not, but emeralds are a more difficult study. Only buy from a reputable jeweler.

What is being done to stop the black market of conflict emeralds?

The black market for emeralds in Colombia is a cause for much violence and killing. What is being done to stop this problem? What can be done to determine if an emerald is "conflict free" or not?

Also, can you please provide the sources for this information? Thank you.

What happens when you get all the chaos emeralds in the original sonic the hedgehog?

What exactly is the point of collecting all six of the "chaos emeralds" in the original sega sonic the hedgehog? Do you get special abilities or something??

Nothing in the original it just means that once you have completed the game you have "fully" completed the game. In Sonic the Hedgehog 2 you can turn Super Sonic it goes REALLY fast and some times hard to control ;D

I know that you can retrieve them by charming animals, but is there a specific species or area that will have emeralds? I have been looking for a long time. Thanks!
