The Legend of the Amethyst

The English name for Amethyst, comes from Greek, meaning "not easily broken." Amethyst is a purple to dark purple which contains Mn, Fe3 + and violet color.
The international gem industry has designated Amethyst as the "February birthday stone."
The ancient Chinese believed that amethyst could promote mutual understanding, honesty, and bless the people wearing it. Also this crystal gemstone is thought to prevent infectious diseases and suppress evil. Bishops of the Roman Church are said to often wear amethyst rings, to avoid evil.
