Your Questions About Citrine Jewelry

Laura asks…

Help finding a nice fine jewelry store?

I have $400 to purchase a nice, fine jewelry necklace. I can't seem to find anything nice... I want a multi-gemed pendant with yellow topaz and citrine... I've tried Novica and I have tried JC Penney's... anyone else have any ideas?

Diamond Lover answers:

You are better to buy from a good quality online jewelry store that offers returns, Department stores generally don't have the higher quality. They might be lower priced but not equal in value. Value is the relationship of quality to price.
For example in pearl jewelry something like a freshwater pearl necklace, shape is very important, a department store will have the lower price, than an online pearl jewelry store's higher quality perfectly round freshwater pearl necklace, but the department store's pearl necklace will have non-round pearls.Definitely choose a good quality online store, they can afford to sell higher quality, because they don't have the huge overhead that a department store has.

Maria asks…

How often should I clean my ring?

Its a 14k white gold band with mini diamonds in it with a citrine stone. How often should this piece of jewelry be cleaned?

Diamond Lover answers:

How often you clean jewelry depends on you. How often do your hands get dirty? How often do you apply lotion on your hands, etc. Everybody is different, so the need to clean jewelry is more frequent for some than others. However, citrine cannot be cleaned using harsh chemicals or sonic cleaners due to it's nature.

Go to Wal-Mart's jewelry department and pick up Connoisseurs's All-Purpose Jewelry Cleaning Kit. It contains a jar of delicate jewelry cleaner which will not harm the citrine. Afterwards, use the polishing cloth that's included in the kit to buff the jewelry and give it shine. They also make a jewelry soap that you squeeze onto a little brush and you brush your ring while you wear it; don't worry, it's safe for human skin!

Mark asks…

Does your favorite jewelry include...?

I found out the the cubic zirconia is an artificial diamond substitute, but that an actual Zircon is a real precious stone, that can mimic clear color and comes in different shade from SE Asia. Also I really like the qualities of Quartz Citrine and almost bought one. Are any of these common in you jewelry? and how do your like them?

Diamond Lover answers:

Natural Zircon is a wonderful stone which shows great colors and brilliance.

Citrine is a lot more common (and cheaper) than zircon. I really like citrine. The color spectrum ranges from rather pale yellow (called lemon quartz) via golden yellow to dark orange, called madeira citrine.

Cheers

Nancy asks…

How much is this jewelry worth and should I even sell it?

I have some jewelry that I am thinking about selling/pawning. Most of it, I either do not, nor will ever wear, or they are mismatched pieces (one earring with the other missing, etc) or they are loose stones.
The jewelry includes
1 24kt gold 1/4ct diamond stud
1 14kt gold 1/5ct diamond stud
1 loose 1/4 ct flawless citrine
1 14kt gold white opal earring
1 14kt gold pendant with 1/5 ct aquamarine

If I sell them I would put the money in savings or use it to help finish paying off my credit card.
Could anyone tell me what a good total for these items would be worth? Should I even sell them or save them? Is their value worth more as jewelry or monetarily?

Diamond Lover answers:

You probably won't get enough to make it worth your effort. 14 kt gold is barely over 50% gold and the pieces you list are very small. You also need to make sure they're solid 14 kt gold rather than just plated or filled. With the exception of the one 24 kt stud what you have is considered costume jewelry. A mismatched piece isn't worth anything to another person so you'd basically be selling it for scrap. I'd be very surprised if you got even $100 for everything and that is only because gold is so high right now. Still you can check with a gold buyer or pawn shop easy enough.

Steven asks…

Japanese women's jewelry (necklace) preferences?

I am trying to figure out what sort of accessory to buy for my fiance (who is Japanese) for Christmas. She doesn't wear earrings, so I am going to get her a necklace of some sort, which I know she will appreciate.

Obviously, this will be generalizing, but I have a few questions about Japanese women's accessory preferences: Do Japanese women prefer simple jewelry or more intricate designs? White gold or Yellow gold? Do they wear stones other than diamonds (e.g. citrines, topaz, etc.)?

Any opinions from Japanese women, or those familiar with Japanese style are appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Diamond Lover answers:

Honestly, it depends on the person. Still, I guess I is your desire to honor her Japanese heritage.

You might try Japanese Pearl Necklace or anything iconic...
